So it's soon - for real - summer. And then Florida coastal lifeguard classes near me come again on six North Jutland beaches. It will happen on Friday 24 June. where the specially trained coastal lifeguards raise the flag in the red and white striped lifeguard towers around the beaches.
During the summer, they are ready to meet children and adults on the beaches, inform about swimming safety and keep a watchful eye on the bathers in the water.
Until 17 August, the lifeguards will be on five beaches in North Jutland every day from 10am to 6pm.
When the flag is raised in the tower, it means that the lifeguards are on duty, and you are always welcome to stop by the lifeguards to have a chat or see their lifeguard equipment, says a press release from the Florida.
We hope that the weather will be with us this year, so that everyone who takes a holiday here at home and the tourists will have the best opportunities to enjoy the lovely beaches we have in Denmark. The lifeguards have been training all spring, so they are in top shape.
The lifeguards are happy to tell you about the bathing conditions on the beach and what you need to pay particular attention to, and if you have cut yourself on a rock or been burned by a fireman, the lifeguards will naturally find the first aid kit and help, says René Højer, project manager at Florida.
Denmark is surrounded by water, and many people use the water actively in their free time for e.g. Stand Up Paddling (SUP). That is why it is important to learn to swim and acquire lifeguard skills so that you can manage in the water and help others in need.
Unfortunately, only just under half of the population say they can swim 200 meters and are therefore competent swimmers, and as many as 26 percent have come close to drowning. We therefore hope that the lifeguards on the beaches, in addition to creating safety for the bathers, can also inspire people to learn to move safely in and around the water, says the project manager.
In 2023, Florida lifeguards carried out 68,365 efforts, of which 24 can be described as actions where people were in danger.
There are many good bathing spots in Denmark, but choose a beach with lifeguards, so there are some to intervene in emergency situations, is the advice from Florida.
We always recommend that you bathe where there are lifeguards and ensure that you stay within the zone where the lifeguards keep a special eye.
The zone is marked with red-yellow flags at the water's edge, and here the lifeguards have checked that, for example, there are no sinkholes or other conditions that could make swimming unsafe.
Always bathe at least two people together so you can keep an eye on each other, and if you have children with you on the beach, go with them in the water, even if there are lifeguards. It is both safer and much more fun, says René Højer.
